Pastels
Pastels are a unique painting medium in that the colors are mixed on the paper by overlaying or blending, rather than on a palette. Bonnie E. Rodgers paints traditional subjects, including portraits, flowers, children and slice-of-life pastel vignettes. The wind, sun, even the fragrance of the air and the surrounding sounds contribute and enhance the connection between her and her subject. Great care must be used to preserve this style of work. When artwork is shipped Bonnie sprays the image with a fixative to preserve the work. The images are created on pastel paper or pretreated Illustration board. UltraViolet coated. NOTE: It is important to know that you should never put a pastel painting under plexiglas. It will pull the pastel pigment off the paper.
